The American Academy of Pediatrics updated its guidance in 2018 to remove the previous “at least age 2” recommendation in favor of “rear-face as long as possible up to the seat’s limit.” Rear-facing distributes crash forces across the entire back, head, and neck, offering substantially better protection.
