My kids are ten years apart, an 18-month-old and an 11-year-old, which means I’ve shopped for baby gear in two completely different worlds. What struck me the second time around was how little had actually gotten easier. When I was pregnant, I couldn’t find clothes that made me feel good. It felt like there were barely any real maternity brands out there, just an ocean of cheap, mass-produced stuff and no clear way to tell any of it apart.
Baby products were worse. Thousands of options, glowing reviews on everything, and almost no honest comparison to help me actually decide. I wanted data. I wanted to feel like I was making an informed choice instead of guessing and hoping. I built Mother & Main because that site didn’t exist, and I got tired of wishing it did.
The quick, honest version, because it matters.
I read a lot. For anything I cover, I go through the specs, dozens of real parent reviews, and the complaints people bury in their one-star ratings. I look at what you pay versus what you actually get. And where I’ve used something with my own kids, I say so right in the guide.
A couple I’ll vouch for personally: I loved my UppaBaby stroller, and with my youngest I got a Nuna car seat that still fits him comfortably at a year and a half, even though he’s tall for his age. When something earns that kind of loyalty in my own house, you’ll hear about it.
What I don’t do is pretend I’ve tested all fifteen strollers in a lab. Nobody has. I’d rather be clear about which picks come from real use and which come from research, and let you weigh it yourself.
Some of what I write touches on health, and I don’t take that lightly. I’m a mom who does her homework. I’m not a doctor, and nothing here is medical advice. For anything about you or your baby, ask your provider. You know your family better than any website does.
Some links here are affiliate links. If you buy through one, I might earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It doesn’t change what I recommend. I only send you toward things I’d actually tell a friend to buy. The full details live on the affiliate disclosure page.
If you’ve got a question, a product you swear by, or something you wish I’d write about, tell me. You can reach me through the contact page.
